Reviews of Sceptre E225W-19203R 22" Ultra Thin 75Hz 1080p LED Monitor 2x HDMI VGA Build-in Speakers, Metallic Black 2018

Great picture....great price...
Okay Amazon what can I say about this monitor . the picture on my PlayStation 4 has never looked better, krisp colors, great brightness, and the water down look that people say about the monitor can easily be taken care of by going into the settings and adjusting the picture to your liking. the only bad downside to this
monitor are the speakers but if you buy sound bar and some external speakers you can get around that the picture is worth the price of admission alone I had a problem with my monitor when I first bought it I was adjusting the display settings on my PlayStation 4 and ramped it up to high and my screen kept displaying an error message saying signal not handled by monitor so I called Amazon and they put me on the phone with a Sceptre rep and he talked me through resetting the monitor and solve the problem instantaneously great customer service great picture great price this is a solid buy

The BEST value for the price
Pros:
Speakers
Ports on back of monitor (especially the headphone port)
75hz refresh rate
5ms response time
Beautiful picture
Sturdy feel
Wall mountable

Cons:
Height is not adjustable
I sometimes wish the screen could be tilted down just a tad further (I like to lay in bed and watch movies)

I've had this monitor for 2 weeks now and I am seriously loving it. I honestly don't think you could find a monitor with as many features as this one for the same price.

I built myself a PC about 3 weeks ago, and I thought I would not need a monitor as I had both an old TV and an old monitor laying around the house. Unfortunately, after hooking everything up I hated them both! They really looked quite awful. So I wen't ahead and looked for a monitor. I really didn't want to have to buy speakers (because who wants ANOTHER added expense?) and I hate wearing headphones because they usually feel uncomfortable after about an hour (I've tried loads of designs... I guess I just have sensitive ears). So, this monitor was the perfect solution.

For just under 100$ (I believe I paid $88), you get a full HD monitor equipped with built-in speakers, 2 HDMI ports, a VGA port, an audio in port, an audio out port (so yes, you can plug headphones directly into the monitor if you like! A great feature considering most headphone cords aren't long enough to reach the port on the actual PC tower), and of course, the DC-in port for the power.

I actually bought this monitor FOR the speakers, something that many reviewers advised against. However, I am quite pleased. If you're an audiophile or you plan to listen to a lot of music, then perhaps you won't be happy with the speakers. However, I enjoy them for a myriad of activities. I do use them to listen to music, but also a lot for watching YouTube/Facebook videos and streaming TV shows and movies. I personally haven't noticed any buzzing and the sound quality seems pretty good to me. Maybe I'm not very picky, or maybe the other reviewers have been VERY picky, but the speakers are really nice to have in my opinion.

This monitor is also capable of 75hz refresh rate rather than the basic 60 you'll get on most budget monitors, so if you are a gamer, you can achieve a bit higher of fps than you would with other monitors of the same price. I've not played games at more than like 30fps (until now), so I can't vouch for whether or not 75 noticeably better than 60 or not. Either way, the games I have played on this monitor so far (Tera and Revelation Online) have looked beautiful.

The picture looks great and setup was incredibly easy. Just plug it in and that's pretty much it. The default settings looked good to me, so I just left it that way, but changes are made easily enough via the buttons on the back of the monitor. Some people were griping about this, especially the fact that the power button is on the back, but I don't really find this inconvenient. The power button actually feels different than all the others (it has a little bump) and it is furthest to the bottom, so its VERY easy to locate by touch.

I would say this monitor is definitely worth the money!

Possibly the best monitor for budget gaming
Bought this to use with my laptop. I think this monitor is ideal for exactly this purpose. I was using a laptop that was not primarily made for gaming but I did want to game on it. This monitor has the benefits of high refresh rate gaming with the 75hz and I think this is the biggest selling point not to mention being about $80 when I bought it. Sceptre is quickly becoming my go to brand for monitors impressing me across the board with their monitors especially for gaming.

I have owned 3 Sceptre monitors now and im always impressed with the unboxing experience including a screw driver to assemble the device as well as all the video cables you could need to use it. I assembled it in 5 minutes and was ready to go. The speakers in the monitor are surprisingly decent, I was able to watch Netflix on it with just the speakers from across the room and I was very satisfied with the picture and sound quality that I got. Also, big plus is having 2 HDMI ports, I had both my nintendo switch and computer plugged into it at the same time. I don't see that feature even on expensive monitors so that is very nice to see from a budget option.

If you are doing any kind of video or picture editing, this monitor is not for you but otherwise great monitor would highly recommend to anyone entering the PC gaming realm or just need more screen realestate

Good for the price
Bought this as secondary display for my laptop. The speakers aren't very good, they sound tinny, but I don't need them anyway so that's not affecting my rating.

The colors were washed out at first until I figured out how to adjust the brightness setting. You have to go Picture -> Preset: User -> and then that will allow you to adjust the Backlight, Brightness, and Contrast. I turned down the Brightness so it didn't look so washed out and I also turned down the Backlight so it wasn't so intense. I guess it's a good thing that the backlight can go higher than I need tho.

You will probably also have to calibrate the colors. It was a little too cool for my liking so I set the Blue Light Shift to 10% along with turning down blue and green to make it more similar to my primary display.

Solid monitor for everyday productivity. For a budget gamer it will work due to low input lag, fast response time, and the adaptive sync over HDMI.

I have 5 of these. They are adequate.
Sometimes you need five monitors. Why? I don't know man, but I have them. Due to the sheer amount of them I possess, you'd assume they're good. They are good. I was hard pressed to find other monitors with the specific features this one has at such a cheap price point. They have very clear picture quality, and a smooth refresh rate if you've only ever used 60hz monitors. Maybe it's placebo, but I felt like the 15hz made a noticable difference. The color calibration is washed out and saturated out of the box, but with some fine tuning it actually looks pretty good. I don't really think you'll find much better at this price point. I got five of them and none of them had dead pixels or any issues, so you can rest assured that you probably won't have a hassle with these. If you do, then dang man I dunno. Would I buy this again? Well, I did. A lot. So yes, but not anymore. I don't need more. For now.

Great monitor for peanuts!
I buy LOTS of stuff on the internet (I have to drive 16 miles round trip just to get a quart of milk!), and learned long ago not to place too much trust in very negative reviews. I honestly think some of them are paid to slam items. When the vast majority of reviews are positive, I go with it. So the handful of comments about 'dead pixels' got ignored. Thankfully.

I have owned a very nice Dell 23" monitor for ... mmmm ... I think about 8 or 9 years now. It cost me $600 when I bought it!! This Sceptre 22" is just as good visually as the Dell -- and cost a whole $75. It's light as a feather, and installed using the HDMI connector (cable provided). I've never used HDMI before, but it does great.

needed a good monitor with versatility mounts and all the different connection ...

 Best Support around
First I would like to say I now have 2 monitors from Sceptre and they have some of the best around. I had an HP Monitor and it's picture wasn't nearly as good. The color seemed off and the picture quality was not as sharp. I'm a huge gamer and I work from home a lot for a software development company. So quality is pretty important to me.

Sceptre has the best customer service I've ever had. I've had to contact them twice now and both times they were extremely helpful.

Issue #1:
I moved and I lost my power cord to my monitor. I found a random one that worked but was afraid since it wasn't the original that it could cause a problem or start a fire. I called the Support line and explained my issue. They sent me a new power cord for free and reassured me that based on the information on the power cord I was using at the time that it was safe both for the monitor and would not start a fire. 3 days later I got my replacement cord.

Issue #2:
I bought a second monitor from Amazon thinking it was the same as my previous monitor and was going to mount them together for work. Unfortunately this was not the case, I got the newer model and the screens are slightly different color tones and the mount holes are about 1/3 of an inch higher than my older model so they obviously don't line up. My mount does not have independent arms sadly. As a result I contacted Tech Support to find out what happened and how to best resolve the issue. The agent (on live chat) took about 45 minutes helping me finding the same model (all are sold out right now) and got in contact with the warehouse to figure out when they would be in stock again. He explained the differences in the models I asked about and gave me pointers to try and match my screens better.

Sceptre has always gone out of their way to assist me and it is greatly appreciated. I will absolutely stick with them for my monitors.

Comes with" description inaccurate
I bought two of the 22" screens to mount on a rack and use in my office. Screens look and perform well. The built in speakers are serviceable for an office where all I want to hear is system sounds and maybe the occasional video. I DO want to point out some inaccuracies in the description. It does NOT come with an HDMI to DVI cord. It comes with a regular HMDI cable -- which is quite short. The power cords are also quite short and have decent sized wall-warts on the plug side. I am using and extension cable for the monitors as the supplied cord isn't enough to be routed under the desk to be plugged in (in my configuration). The monitor came with stand-offs which made it easy to mount to my VESA mount, provided you buy the necessary screws, they aren't included. M4 10mm screws is what you need. Other than that, these are great monitors for the price.

Exceeded Expectations
This monitor is a bit flat with vibrant colors, but you can minimize the notice by using your PC's built in calibration tools paired with the monitors external buttons. The price-point is amazing, it's super light, and the speakers get just loud enough for someone sitting in front of them. This monitor isn't top shelf obviously, and I write this review comparing it to other monitors around the same value. It comes with an included screwdriver (which was super thoughtful), and I would definitely recommend this monitor to the casual gamer or non-gamer over any other monitor. Two Critiques I have are : 1) Its color gamut is somewhat low. 2) The brightness on it must be using somewhat older technology (it reminded me of Gameboy Advance SP days), because the brighter it is it drowns out a lot of what's on screen..
