Great Price, Great Product
After using Two Screens at my office, I found that I dearly missed my "Second Screen" when I go to a Job Site. I found my answer when I ran across this KYY Portable Monitor 15.6inch 1080P FHD USB-C, HDMI Computer Display. It was a little difficult hooking everything up, the first time I used it; however, I am a man and reading Instructions simply isn't in our DNA. Once I reviewed (not read) the Instruction Card, that came with the Unit, BAM, I instantly had TWO Screens. I travel A LOT and this Monitor now goes everywhere my laptop goes. Although I haven't had it very long, I can assure you, it has been used and abused because my Second Office is on Construction Sites. Now I am not recommending you go drop it out of a second story window or run over it with your car; however, I have to say that I am impressed with its durability.
PROS:
It's VERY Durable!
Easy to hookup (if you review the card it comes with).
Only takes a few minutes to set it up.
The Screen is very clear and I can do anything on it that I need to!
The Price is great!
Its very light weight!
The Case that it comes in also serves as a Monitor Stand.
You can hook this up to your cell phone and share your phone screen.
Great for traveling!
CON:
Volume. Maybe I haven't figured out the volume controls yet; however, I consider myself to be slightly "Tech Savvy" and the monitor isn't very loud; however, its not really a problem for me because I just use the laptop's speakers.
*Word of Caution: When looking for a Second Monitor, do your research. Make sure you purchase one that will do what you need it to do. Some Monitor Screens are ONLY Mirroring Screens which means whatever you see on your main monitor, you will see on your second monitor. This is NOT what I was looking for. I needed a second display that would show other folders or Construction Plans, while I continued to work on another project with the other display. I hope this makes since, I just don't want someone to purchase one thing, thinking they're getting something else, like I almost did.
BOTTOM LINE: I would highly recommend this Monitor to anyone that needs or wants a Dual Display.
Looks and works amazing 🤩
This monitor is very good, the colors and the hdr are amazing, I love the screen finish, it is not glossy, the speakers are not too loud but they works just fine, what can I say, amazing, I connect my Samsung Z fold 4 and works, my PS5 and PS4 works amazing and also my Asus Rog Ally, very nice quality and is not heavy, metal frame and back with a magnetic back, came with a charger, a USB cable and a Mini HDMI to Full HDMI, I'm super happy.
Perfect for on-the-go
I’m a graphic designer, and this monitor was perfect for my needs.
Pros:
It was very easy to transport, thin, and the resolution was good for my work. I don’t have any complaints for the colors as well. A pleasant surprise was that it didn’t need to be powered in order to work. The power from my laptop was enough for it which meant even less cables I have to carry around, and less outlets for me to find.
Cons: in order for it to work with my laptop without having to be plugged into an outlet, it only worked if the cord was connected to a specific port on both the laptop and monitor, and having three possible ports on the laptop makes it just a little less convenient for time to figure out which one works. But, this was a really minor inconvenience.
Overall, the value for this monitor is great. This balance of quality and price is exactly what I was looking for.
Portable is, as portable does.
For context, I purchased this monitor as an extra monitor for when I am in the office at work for my sanity. I recently gotten a new job and the office only has one giant monitor, and as someone who has worked off of three screens for the past decade, it was making me twitch when I had to go into the office. Now that we're being forced in 3 days a week I bought this so I have my 3 screens at work - the big monitor, my portable one and then my laptop monitor. My home setup is two identical monitors + laptop monitor that I put together in April 2020 after the knowledge that 'two weeks' was going to be a lot longer. Previous to the pandemic I worked off of three screens as well.
I love the portability of it. With two cords it's plug and play whether direct wired or hooked up to a hub.
My (new) coworkers think I'm nuts, but I always have to have my calendar open or I experience time blindness and miss meetings or misc reminders I have on it. So I have the portable monitor as my calendar to keep me on task.
I can use it as well to display what I am doing to someone who is sitting opposite of me by making it a duplicate, which is a fun trick to do for clients or in a meeting if I bring it along.
I can also take it on travels, hook it up to video game systems (switch, xbox, etc), or even plug in a streaming service device onto it. They give you a bunch of cords with a bunch of ways to hook it up to anything.
It's a neat monitor that can serve multiple purposes, and continues to keep me on task for work.
Better than I thought it would be
The KYY K3 Portable Monitor is a versatile, slim, and lightweight 15.6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) USB-C portable monitor designed for users on the go. Its compact design, featuring small bezels for an expansive screen experience, makes it an excellent choice for enhancing productivity with a second screen. The monitor's build quality is commendable, offering a sleek, sturdy construction that fits easily alongside a laptop in a bag, highlighting its portability and ease of use.
After six months of use primarily as a secondary monitor for work outside the office, the KYY K3 stands out for its slim design and straightforward functionality. It connects seamlessly to a variety of devices via a USB-C cable, requiring no complex setup, which underscores its user-friendly nature. This plug-and-play capability is particularly appreciated for those needing a quick and easy extension of their workspace.
However, the monitor is not without its flaws. The control wheel used to navigate the on-screen menu can be cumbersome, detracting from the otherwise streamlined user experience. Additionally, the built-in speakers offer subpar audio quality, which could be a drawback for users requiring integrated sound for presentations or media consumption.
Despite these shortcomings, the KYY K3 excels in its primary function as a portable display. It provides a clear, bright image suitable for a range of applications, from office work to casual content viewing. The included smart cover, which doubles as a stand, enhances its utility, although its magnetic attachment could be more secure.
A notable tip for potential users is to ensure their device can power the monitor directly through the USB-C connection. If not, a USB-C cable connected to an external charger can be used, provided the cable is capable of delivering sufficient power.
In conclusion, the KYY K3 Portable Monitor offers great value for those in need of a portable, easy-to-use second screen. While it has some areas for improvement, particularly regarding the control wheel and speaker quality, its strengths in design, portability, and overall performance make it a worthwhile investment for mobile professionals and tech enthusiasts alike.
